SØREN PALMER
Søren G. Palmer did a stint at divinity school before being released into the supervision of MFA and PhD programs. He currently teaches English at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was awarded the Chapman Family Teaching Award and, twice, the Joseph Flora Award for Teaching Excellence. His novel in progress, Descended From Giants, received a Faculty Development Award and a Faculty Fellowship from UNC's Institute for the Arts and Humanities.

"He considered a second drink, but then heard his daughter coming down the stairs; she could not see him drinking this early, and he did not have enough time to make it back around the island and return the bottle to its hiding place above the refrigerator, so he tucked the bottle behind a stash of chips in the island’s cabinet, then stood back up just as his daughter appeared."
